Neuroblastoma is a cancer of the nervous system which often occurs in the abdomen and can spread to all other parts of the body including the bone, bone marrow and brain. It is an aggressive and most common form of childhood cancer, with over 100 children being diagnosed each year. Sadly there is an 80% chance of relapse and currently no relapse protocol in the UK.
Although our offices are based in Hunstanton, Norfolk, as a charity we support over 200 families nationwide through every stage of their journey. We fundraise for potentially lifesaving treatments which might not be available on the NHS as well as research, holidays, treats and wishes and many other aspects to help and support families in their fight against neuroblastoma. We also have a number of international families within our support group, who are always happy to network with us and each other.
Next month we will be launching our national campaign ‘Mauvember’. During November lots of men grow a moustache to raise awareness of male cancers but little men get cancer too! So what better way to raise awareness than to don the Neuroblastoma and FAN’s brand colour of purple! To help us spread the word and promote our cause, we would like to see and receive photos of as many people as we can, getting involved and advocating the campaign by wearing it purple. There are lots of things that can be done, some to raise funds and some just to raise awareness; wear a purple wig for a week, get everyone to wear a purple moustache, dress in purple for the day, have a purple cake sale, etc.
Also if anyone wishes to fund raise on our behalf then we would love for them to get in touch.
